This Privacy Policy explains how ColorShare, operated by BeaconAI LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”), collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the ColorShare mobile application and website (colorshare.app). By using ColorShare, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
ColorShare is intended for users in the United States and other regions where it is made available, and is not directed at or offered to residents of the European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland at this time.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: username, profile avatar, bio, and optional social media links
- Authentication data: provided via Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In. We do not store your Apple or Google password.
- Content you post: colored page images, descriptions, book tags, materials used, color swatches, and comments
Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers
- Usage data: pages viewed, features used, time spent in the app, and interactions with posts
- Log data: IP address, browser type (web), access times, and referring URLs
Information from Third Parties
- Apple Sign-In: Apple ID, name (if shared), and email address (or Apple relay address)
- Google Sign-In: Google account name, email address, and profile photo
- Google Books API: book metadata when you scan a barcode
- Google Cloud Vision API: uploaded images are analyzed for content safety. Images are not stored by Google beyond the immediate request.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your ColorShare account
- To display your posts, profile, and swatches according to your visibility settings
- To operate community features: likes, comments, follows, bookmarks, and notifications
- To screen uploaded images for prohibited content via Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch
- To enforce Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, including the strike and ban system
- To send push notifications about activity on your posts
- To display advertisements to free-tier users via Google AdMob (mobile); Google AdSense (web) is planned but not yet approved or active
- To process in-app subscription purchases via RevenueCat
- To generate Amazon affiliate links for books and materials referenced in posts
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
Public Content
Posts set to Public visibility are visible to all users, including visitors to colorshare.app who are not logged in. Your username, avatar, bio, and public posts are visible to other users.
Service Providers
- Google Firebase: core backend infrastructure (Firestore, Storage, Auth, FCM)
- Google Cloud Vision API: image content moderation
- Google AdMob: advertising for free-tier users (mobile)
- Google AdSense (planned for web — pending approval; not yet displaying ads or receiving any data)
- RevenueCat: subscription and in-app purchase management
- Amazon Associates: affiliate link generation
- Resend: transactional email delivery (account notifications)
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of BeaconAI LLC, our users, or the public. Reports of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) are reported to NCMEC as required by US federal law.
4. Data Retention
- Active accounts: data retained while account is active
- Deleted accounts: deleting your account in Settings permanently deletes your posts, comments, likes, bookmarks, follows, profile, and images immediately — there is no recovery period. See Delete Your Account for details.
- Banned accounts: data retained for up to 2 years for legal and safety purposes
5. Age Requirement
ColorShare is intended for users 18 and older, and users are required to confirm they are 18 or older during account creation. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover an account was created by someone under 18 — for example, through age misrepresentation at signup — we will immediately terminate the account and delete their data. 6. Your Rights & Choices
- Edit your profile, username, avatar, bio, and accent color at any time in Settings
- Control post visibility per post: Public, Followers Only, Friends Only, or Private
- Delete any of your posts at any time
- Delete your account in Settings (permanently removes your profile and all content)
- Data requests and deletions: contact legal@colorshare.app (responded to within 30 days)
- California residents (CCPA/CPRA) and residents of other states with similar privacy laws have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information — including for cross-context behavioral advertising — and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell personal information for money, but personal information may be shared with advertising partners, such as Google AdMob, for personalized advertising unless you opt out as described below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
- To exercise your other rights (know, delete, or correct your information), contact us at legal@colorshare.app.
- Opt out of personalized advertising at any time in the app: Settings > Privacy > Personalized Ads. This directly stops AdMob from personalizing ads shown to you going forward. You can also use your device’s own controls: iOS Settings > Privacy > Advertising; Android Settings > Google > Ads.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security including HTTPS/TLS encrypted transmission, Firebase security rules restricting data access, and authentication via Apple and Google Sign-In. No method of internet transmission is 100% secure.
8. Advertising
Free-tier users see ads served by Google AdMob (mobile), which may use cookies and device identifiers to show relevant ads. Google AdSense (web) is planned but not yet approved by Google — colorshare.app does not display AdSense ads yet. Ad-Free and Pro subscribers see no advertisements.
9. Amazon Affiliate Disclosure
ColorShare is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate, BeaconAI LLC earns from qualifying purchases made through links on ColorShare. Affiliate links are clearly identified near a “Buy on Amazon” button.
